You against Nina — draft your hand, then bid and play
How to play 2-Player Spades
Two players: you against Nina
The draft: instead of a deal, you each build a hand of 13 from the deck. On your turn you see the top card: keep it (you then see the next card, which is discarded), or discard it (and you must take the next card). Then Nina does the same. Discarded cards are out of play for the hand.
Blind Nil: when you are 100 or more behind, you may bid Blind Nil before the draft: +200 if you take no tricks, −200 if you take any.
Bidding: once both hands are drafted, each of you bids how many tricks you expect to take.
Playing: follow the suit that was led if you can. If you can't, play anything, including a spade. Spades beat every other suit; otherwise the highest card of the suit led takes the trick and leads the next.
Spades broken: you can't lead a spade until one has been played on an earlier trick (or you hold nothing but spades).
Scoring: take at least as many tricks as you bid and score 10 for every trick bid, plus 1 for each extra trick (a bag). Take fewer and lose 10 for every trick bid.
Bags: every 10 bags you collect costs 100 points.
Nil: bid Nil to take no tricks at all: +100 if you do, −100 if you take even one.
Winning: the first to 500 wins. If two are level at the top when someone reaches it, play another hand.
Playing a card: tap a card to lift it, tap it again to play it — or use Play.
Keyboard: ← → move through your hand, Enter lifts or plays the card, H hint, L last trick, S sort, Escape closes a panel.
