Cribbage — two players, to 121
Both players are dealt six cards and each puts two into the crib — an extra hand that scores for the dealer.
A starter card is cut. If it is a Jack, the dealer takes 2 immediately (his heels).
In the play, you alternate laying cards and calling the running total. It may never pass 31.
Pegging: 15 or 31 exactly is 2. A pair is 2, three of a kind 6, four of a kind 12. A run of three or more scores its length, and the cards need not be laid in order.
If you cannot lay a card without passing 31, say go, and your opponent carries on while they can. The last card laid scores 1 — or 2 if it made exactly 31.
Then the hands are counted: the non-dealer first, then the dealer, then the dealer's crib. The starter counts towards all three.
Counting: every combination making 15 is 2, each pair is 2, each run scores its length, four cards of one suit is 4 (5 if the starter matches too), and a Jack of the starter's suit is 1 (his nobs).
In the crib, a flush needs all five cards in the same suit.
First to 121 wins, the moment they get there — even part-way through a count.
