You against Ruby — the up-card sets the knock limit — first to 150
How to play Oklahoma Gin
Gin Rummy where the first up-card sets the knock limit
The deal: ten cards each; the first dealer is chosen at random, then the deal alternates (after a void hand, the same dealer deals again). The next card starts the discard pile. The player who didn't deal may take it or pass; then the dealer may take it or pass; if both pass, the non-dealer draws from the stock.
Your turn: take the top card of the stock or the discard pile, then discard one card. You can't throw back a card you just took from the discard pile.
Melds: three or four cards of the same rank (a set), or three or more in a row of the same suit (a run). Aces are low: A-2-3 is a run, Q-K-A is not.
Deadwood: the cards not in a meld. Aces count 1, picture cards 10, the rest their number.
The knock limit: the first up-card of each hand sets it: a 2 to 10 at its number, a picture card at 10. An ace means you may only go Gin.
Spades double: if the first up-card is a spade, everything scored in that hand counts double.
Knocking: with deadwood at or under the knock limit you may knock. Ruby then lays off any cards she can on your melds, and the deadwood is compared; the knocker scores the difference.
Gin: all ten cards in melds. You score 25 plus your opponent's deadwood, and they can't lay off. Big Gin — all eleven cards in melds right after you draw — scores 31 plus their deadwood.
Laying off: after a knock, the other player adds any cards they can to the knocker's melds before deadwood is counted.
Undercut: if the other player's deadwood is equal to or less than the knocker's, they score 25 plus the difference.
End of the stock: when only two cards are left, a player who took the 50th card and discards without knocking ends the hand with no score, and the same dealer deals again.
Winning: the first to 150 wins the game, with 100 for the game and 25 for every hand won. A player who won no hands at all has their score doubled against them.
Choosing a card: tap a card to lift it, tap it again to discard it — or use the button. Press and hold a card to move it in your hand.
Keyboard: ← → move through your hand, Enter lifts or discards the card, S stock, D discard pile, H hint, Escape closes a panel.
