About Free Bet Blackjack
How to Play Free Bet Blackjack
Choose Hit to take another card or Stand to keep your total. You can also Double to take one final card or Split a matching pair into two separate hands.
A Double is free when your first two cards make a hard 9, 10 or 11. The house adds a bet equal to yours, so you can win on both bets without risking any extra chips. You can also double other two-card hands using your own balance.
Splitting is free for any pair except ten-value cards. The house pays for the new hand's bet, and you can play up to four hands. Splitting tens costs your own chips. Split Aces receive one card each, although you can split again if another Ace appears.
Once you've finished your hands, the dealer reveals their hidden card and draws until reaching at least 17, including hitting on soft 17.
A blackjack pays 3 to 2, while other winning hands pay 1 to 1. Equal totals push, returning your stake. If the dealer finishes on exactly 22, every hand still standing pushes instead of winning, although a blackjack still pays 3 to 2. Any hand over 21 loses as normal.
Paying out
Suppose you bet $20 and receive an 11. You take the free Double, adding another $20 paid for by the house. If you win, you make $40 in profit, even though only your original $20 was at risk. If you lose, you lose just that $20.
Free Bet Blackjack Strategy and Tips
Make the most of free Doubles
A free Double lets you increase your potential winnings without risking another chip. Take the free Double on 11 against a dealer 10, or even on 9 against an Ace. These are examples of how the free bet changes the usual blackjack decisions.
Look for opportunities to split
Splitting pairs is particularly useful when the new hand costs you nothing. The game's strategy recommends splitting 2s against a 7, 4s against a 5 and 8s against an Ace. Each free split gives you another hand to play without an additional wager.
Think twice before splitting tens
Unlike most other pairs, splitting ten-value cards requires your own chips. A total of 20 is already a strong hand, so breaking it up can be an expensive decision. Against a dealer 6, the recommended move is to stand.
Remember the dealer can push on 22
In ordinary blackjack, a dealer going over 21 means you win if your hand is still standing. Here, exactly 22 means a push, making some dealer upcards less favourable than you might expect. That's why the calculated strategy recommends hitting hard 12 against a 4 and hard 13 against a 2.
Don't assume every free split is best
Free splits are valuable, but the right decision still depends on your cards and the dealer's upcard. You can split up to four hands, and splitting Aces follows their own rules. Use the Hint when you're unsure whether splitting improves your position.
Protect your stronger hands
Not every hand needs another card just because the dealer could reach 22. The game's calculated strategy recommends standing on hard 15 against a dealer 6. Consider your total and the dealer's card before deciding to hit.
Remember that blackjack beats a dealer 22
A natural blackjack still wins at 3 to 2 if the dealer finishes on exactly 22. The special push rule applies to other hands that are still standing, not to your blackjack.
Use the Coach to understand your decisions
Turn on Coach to see explanations of free bets and the dealer 22 rule as they come up. The Hint shows the best move calculated for this game's exact rules, along with the reason. Once you're comfortable, you can turn Coach off and make every decision yourself.
Free Bet Blackjack FAQs
How does Free Bet Blackjack work?
Free Bet Blackjack follows the usual aim of getting closer to 21 than the dealer without going over. Many doubles and splits are paid for by the house, but a dealer total of exactly 22 pushes your remaining hands instead of losing to them.
When is a Double free in Free Bet Blackjack?
You can double for free on a two-card hard 9, 10 or 11, including after a split, except on split Aces. The house matches your bet and you receive one more card.
Which pairs can you split for free?
You can split any pair except ten-value cards, including Aces. Free splitting is available for up to four hands, while splitting tens requires your own chips.
What happens when the dealer gets 22?
Every hand still standing pushes, so your original stake is returned rather than paid as a win. A blackjack still wins at 3 to 2, and any hand that has already gone over 21 loses.
What is the house edge in Free Bet Blackjack?
The house edge is approximately 1.03% with the best strategy, based on 10 million hands tested using this game's engine. The free bets are balanced by the rule that a dealer 22 pushes.
What happens if a free bet loses?
You lose only the chips you originally wagered. The house covers the additional free bet, so it doesn't reduce your balance when the hand loses.
Can I use normal Doubles and Splits?
Yes. You can double other two-card hands and split ten-value pairs using your own chips. If you don't have enough chips to match your wager when doubling, you can double for less.
Can I save my game and continue later?
Yes. Your game is saved in your browser, so you can return and resume the hand you were playing.
