Description

Baccarat Banque is one of the oldest known forms of Baccarat, predating both the familiar automatic game and Chemin de Fer. Its defining feature is genuine choice: the banker decides freely whether to draw or stand instead of following a fixed drawing table.

The table is divided into two sides, Right and Left. Each Punter hand plays separately against the same banker, so one side can win while the other loses or pushes. The game is traditionally dealt from three decks, with cards dealt in turn to Right, Left and Banker.

You can choose any of the three seats. Take the banker’s chair for the most strategic role, using limited information to make an unscripted drawing decision, or play either Punter hand for a more familiar experience against the banker. The remaining two seats are controlled by the AI.

Baccarat Banque Strategy Tips
Understand when the Punter has a choice

Most Punter decisions are automatic. A two-card total of 0 to 4 must draw, while 6 or 7 must stand. A total of exactly 5 is the only point at which the Punter chooses whether to take a third card.

Treat a Punter 5 as a marginal hand

There is no guaranteed answer when deciding whether to draw on 5. Consider that standing leaves a relatively weak total, while drawing introduces both the possibility of improvement and the risk of finishing with a lower total after Baccarat values are applied.

Remember what the banker can actually see

The banker does not see either Punter’s first two cards. Before deciding, the banker knows whether each side drew and can see any third card taken. The banker also knows how much is staked on each side.

Weigh the two sides separately

The banker faces two independent hands, so a decision that looks sensible against one side might be less effective against the other. Consider the information revealed by both sides rather than treating them as a single combined opponent.

Pay attention to the stakes

When one side has substantially more riding on the coup, the banker may reasonably give that side greater weight. This does not reveal the Punter’s hidden total, but it helps determine which comparison matters most financially.

Reason through the decision instead of following a chart

Baccarat Banque has no compulsory banker drawing table. Its historical reputation for advantage play comes from the banker’s ability to interpret third cards, actions and stake sizes. Successful banker play is therefore a matter of judgement rather than memorising a fixed rule.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is Baccarat Banque different from regular Baccarat?

Regular Baccarat usually means Punto Banco, where the house banks the game and fixed rules determine whether the Player and Banker hands draw. Baccarat Banque has a permanent player banker with complete drawing discretion, while two separate Punter hands play against the banker each coup.

Is Baccarat Banque the same as Chemin de Fer?

No. In Baccarat Banque, the same banker retains the bank regardless of whether the banker wins or loses, setting a new stake before each coup. Two Punter hands, Right and Left, play independently against the banker.

In Chemin de Fer, the bank rotates to the next eligible player after a banker loss, and only one Player hand opposes the Banker hand.

What does the banker see before deciding?

The banker cannot see either Punter hand’s first two cards. The banker sees whether each side drew a third card and, if it did, the value of that third card. The banker can also see how much has been staked on each side.

When should a Punter hand draw on a 5?

A two-card total of 5 is the Punter’s only optional drawing decision. Drawing offers an opportunity to improve a weak total but can also reduce the final value. There is no outcome guaranteed by either choice, so the decision should be treated as a genuine judgement call.

Can I choose which seat to play?

Yes. You can play as the Banker, Right Punter or Left Punter. The other two seats are controlled by the AI.

What happens if I choose a Punter seat?

The AI takes the banker’s chair and controls the other Punter hand. You make the decision for your own side whenever it has a two-card total of 5. All compulsory draws, stands and settlement calculations are handled automatically.
